Man cries out as wife gets pregnant for uncle

A heartbroken man Luke Mareya, from Harare, Zimbabwe, has accused his wife of having been impregnated by her own uncle.
According to H-Metro, Mareya exposed his wife Elizabeth Jasi’s secret when he dragged her to court seeking a protection order.

Mareya told the court he no longer love her wife.
“She broke my heart; she was impregnated by her uncle and all along she has been lying to me that the son belonged to her ex-husband.
“They frequently see each other and the issue came to light when her uncle’s wife revealed it to me that I was staying with her husband’s son.
“She does not want to discuss the issue and she has the tendency of beating me up. I have sustained injuries due to her violent actions.
“She emotionally abuses her uncle’s wife and she does not even respond to her greetings.
“I took the matter to my in-laws who then demanded $1000 for ‘lobola’ before any discussion,” Mareya said.
Jasi, on the other hand, did not dispute the allegations made against her by her husband but counter accused him of being abusive.
She said: “I am going to beat up that aunt because of her gossip.
“I still love my husband. Your Worship, he is harassing and insulting me; some of the things he is saying are correct and some of them are lies.
Presiding Magistrate Tafadzwa Miti ruled in favour of the husband and ordered Jasi to observe peace towards him.

Police IG orders arrest of Sen. Elisha Abbo, orderly for assaulting sales girl

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the arrest of the Senator Elisha Abbo and his orderly for allegedly attacking a sales girl in Abuja.

Investigations are currently ongoing at the Federal Capital Territory police by an investigative team set up by the Police Force headquarters in Abuja.
The news of the attack went viral after a video recorded by the Close Circuit Television (CCTV), installed in the shop was shared on the social media, an act which is said to have embarrassed the police authorities.
The Police say they are doing everything within their powers to restore dignity to the force, following the conduct of the police orderly attached to the senator.
According to Police sources, the incident actually happened in a sex-toy shop in Abuja, where the senator had gone to make purchases.
The video which has been circulating the internet shows the angry senator beat up the sales girl, and ordered his police orderly to take her away.

Court Dissolves Marriage Over Husband's Inability To Get Wife Pregnate

A Grade “C” Customary Court, sitting in Iseyin, Oyo State, on Wednesday dissolved a five-year-old marriage between Afeez and Abibat Imran over his alleged impotence.

Abibat had approached the court in December 2018, seeking divorce.
The complainant told the court that she had endured enough and wanted to path ways with her estranged husband.
“We have been together for five years now; before now, he could still perform just that we can’t make babies, but now he can’t do anything at all.
“I have really suffered in silence and now, I have to move on with my life and the first step is for him to make way for a capable person who can make me a mother,” she said.
She revealed that the development had made her to park out of their matrimonial home.
In his response, Afeez, who did not deny that he was impotent as claimed by his wife, said he was already receiving treatment from competent hands.
He said that he would soon be fine again.
“I want this court to appeal to her as I have spent so much on fixing this problem, I do not want her to go, please help plead to her.
“But if she insist on the dissolution, then she should bring back some of my belongings that she parked along with her own when she was leaving,” he said.
Delivering judgment, President of the Court, Chief Adelodun Raheem, frowned at Afeez’s absence when the case was ongoing.
He said evidence before the court had shown that love no longer existed between the estranged couple he, thereafter, dissolved the union accordingly.

Return my virginity if you want divorce — Wife tells husband

A 28-year-old woman, Suliat Toriola, on Wednesday told her husband, Toriola Lateef, that she would only consent to his request for the dissolution of their marriage if he returns her virginity and good health, as she was two years ago before the union.

Suliat stated her conditions before an Iseyin Grade C Customary Court, where the husband had gone seeking for the dissolution of the marriage over “frequent public embarrassment.”
He told the Court that Suliat was in the habit of harassing him at his work place and social functions attended by his friends and relatives.
The husband said he had to move out of their matrimonial home due to the unbearable development.
Responding, Suliat said she was charmed by Toriola before she agreed to marry him.
“Ideally I will not marry this type of human being, if not for the charm he used on me.
“I was looking for charm to help my business grow and he told me that he will need to get some hairs from my private part and also make love to me. That was how I found myself married to him.
“When I got to his house, my business boomed and he also made lot of money too and we got it renewed twice but now my health is deteriorating and he now moved out of the house.
“He must look for a way to return my virginity and my health, before he can say he wants to leave me.”
Ruling on the matter, the President of the Court, Raheem Adelodun, said the case would be put on hold until the health condition of Suliat improves.
He ordered the families of the estranged couple to seek urgent medical help for Suliat and update the Court every 15 days.

We Usually Target Newly-Wed Women For kidnapping, Says Suspect

A suspected kidnapper who was arrested by the Police in Niger State has confessed that his gang usually targetted newlywed women for kidnapping to extort money from their bridegroom.
The suspect, Mohammed Yakubu, 25, was said to have kidnapped his victim one Halima Ibrahim on May 11 and held her in captivity for over two weeks while demanding N150,000 ransom before her release.
Yakubu stated that members of his gang were interested in kidnapping newly-wed women or those about to wed because their husbands/fiancés would be prepared to pay ransom.
Yakubu confessed to Northern City News on Thursday that he kidnapped Halima with the intent of extorting money from her would-be husband, who also resides in the same area.
“We are from the Katcha Local Government Area of the state. I knew that Aliyu Musa has proposed to Halima and I knew he would do anything to secure her freedom, hence I kidnapped her.
“I called him with her number and told him that she had been kidnapped and ordered him to drop the sum of N150,000 in a location if he wanted her released. He offered to pay N65,000.”
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Muhammad Abubakar, confirmed the incident, saying a team of policemen attached to the Kpakungu Police Station apprehended the suspect following a tip-off.
Abubakar said the victim was rescued by the police personnel, adding that the matter had been charged to court.

How uninvited guest made away with host’s money at wedding’

Nigerian Police in Lagos is on the trail of a suspected thief, who allegedly disguised as an invited guest to make away with property and money of a groom and his friend at a wedding in the state.
The incident happened on Saturday at Event Gallery, along Igando Road, Ojo area of the state, where the wedding held.
Clad in a white dress worn by the groom’s friends and relatives, the fleeing suspect was captured on camera as he picked wads of cash dished out to the groom, Afeez Adekoya, who was immersed in dancing.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the church service was on when he disappeared with a large sum of cash spent for Adekoya as well as the groom’s gold wristwatch.
He also reportedly carted away the phone of the best man under false pretenses of safekeeping it.
His third victim, our correspondent learnt, was the bride’s best friend, whose Samsung phone the suspect collected on the pretext that he wanted to transfer some pictures she took at the event into his phone.
Adekoya, who spoke to our correspondent on the telephone on Tuesday, said he was under pressure that day because the event started late.
He said it occurred to him that the suspect was a stranger, but he thought he came with one of “my friends.”
He said, “The engagement time was supposed to be 8am while the church service was supposed to start at 11am. As a result of some delay, the engagement started late and there was pressure on us to finish it on time so that the church service could commence.
“While we were hurrying to go for the engagement, he (the suspect) mingled with my friends. My wife and I were busy. I saw him and four of my friends collecting money. I was expecting my best man to gather all the money together, not knowing that all of them had given the money to him. They all thought the man was my friend they did not know or a family member.
“He (the suspect) came to me with a polythene bag containing N6,000. The money spent for me was really much more than that, but because of the pressure, I was not able to question him. It was already after 12pm. He followed me to where I changed my dress for the church service.
“He collected my gold wristwatch because I did not want to use it for the church service. He also collected my dress and kept it in my suitcase, which a friend later collected from him.”
Adekoya explained that the suspect subsequently followed his best man to a room, where the friend wore another dress for the church service.
The groom said the suspect collected the dress from the best man and took it to his (best man’s) wife, who was in a car, telling her that her husband directed him to collect his phone.
“After collecting the Samsung phone, which is worth N130,000, the suspect approached the bride’s best friend and told her that she had a lot of his pictures on her phone and that she should give him the phone to transfer the pictures to his phone.
“The lady was also under pressure, attending to our guests from Sagamu (Ogun State). She thought the man was my family member and gave him her phone. It was during the church service that we discovered that he had disappeared with the items,” Adekoya added.
He said he reported the case at the Iba Police Station, adding that the police promised to track down the suspect.
The bride, Abiola Folorunsho, said she initially had an impression that something was amiss with the suspect’s gesture, but she felt it would be insulting to ask for his details.
She said, “I was really angry that day. The man approached me inside a car I was and tried to pacify me. He was even trying to fan me. At that point, I wanted to ask my husband’s younger brother who he was, but I felt it would be insulting to ask such a question in his presence.
“The man gave me a handkerchief to clean my face and tried to get me food. I did not use the handkerchief because I had never seen him before. I saw him among the groom’s friends dancing. He was calling my husband ‘Egbon’ (brother) and I concluded he was my husband’s family member.
“He was everywhere, taking pictures and nobody suspected he was not invited or he had an ulterior motive. I think he banked on the pressure on us. It was our photographer who took his picture while he was dancing.”
Folorunsho stated her friend’s phone stolen by the suspect contained the soft copy of her thesis, adding that she had no backup for the work.
“She is studying for her master’s degree at University of Lagos. A day before the wedding, she tried to do the backup on her Gmail account to no avail. She was weeping when she discovered the man had fled with the phone. I was destabilised too,” she added.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chike Oti, confirmed that the case was reported to the police, adding that investigation had commenced.

‘My wife is a thief, please separate us’

A Customary court in Ibadan has dissolved the marriage between a couple over the husband allegation that the wife had the habit of stealing and embarrassing him.
The petitioner, Akeem Folorunsho approached the Mapo Customary Court for divorce of his wife and the president of the court, Ademola Odunade granted his petition.
“Custody of the eight-month-old child produced by the union is granted to Fatima, while Akeem shall pay a monthly allowance of N5,000 for the child’s feeding,” the arbitrator added.
The petitioner had alleged that his wife threatened his life through constant theft of his money and property.
“Anytime I leave home in search of daily bread, Fatima searches through my clothes’ pockets to steal my money.
“I give her N2,000 every week, in addition to the abundance of food at home, including our baby’s daily needs.
“Worst still, my lord, after her departure from my home, Fatima suddenly came to my apartment, forcefully pulled off the burglary proof and made away with most of my property including refrigerator, mattress, DVD player, sound system, among others,” Akeem lamented.
Fatima, a teacher, denied the allegations leveled against her.
She said, “Akeem stopped catering to my needs not minding that I had not fully recovered from the surgery I had to give birth. That was the reason I carried his property to sell in order to sustain myself.”

How Lagos lawyer kills husband, cuts off private parts

A Lagos-based lawyer, Udeme Odibi has been allegedly stabbed her husband Otike Odibi to death, after disputed over property.
The couple who lived in Diamond Estate, Sangotedo, Ajah, Lagos State, were both lawyer.
According to report, the suspect was also said to have cut off the private parts of the deceased and stabbed herself in an attempt to also kill herself but she was rescued.
It was gathered that 47-year-old Udeme had threatened to stab her husband on Wednesday over a disagreement that ensued between them.
The husband, who was 50-year-old had informed a neighbour and his relatives about the threat on the telephone before he went to bed that night only for the wife to made good her threat in the early hours of Thursday, ripping out the entrails of the victim with a knife.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Chike Oti, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said the couple had endured three years of marriage fraught with domestic violence.
He said the couple did not have any child together, although Otike had a daughter in his previous marriage.
Oti stated that a distress call was put across to the Divisional Police Officer, Ogombo division, around 7.30am on Thursday as regards the murder.
“Based on the information, the DPO mobilised a team of detectives to the scene where they found the man lying on the bed in a pool of blood with his stomach ripped open, exposing his intestines. As if that was not enough, the killer severed his genitals and placed them on his right hand," the Police spokesman said.
“However, before the arrival of the police, Mrs. Udeme, who had unsuccessfully attempted to commit suicide after allegedly killing her husband, was rushed to a hospital for treatment by neighbours.”
The PPRO said the state Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, directed detectives from the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba, as well as forensic experts to the scene of the crime for investigation.
An eyewitness account revealed that the couple married three years ago after the deceased divorced his first wife. The deceased’s first marriage produced a daughter currently schooling in the United Kingdom. However, his second marriage is said to be without a child,” he added.
The police spokesperson stated further that information from a neighbour showed that the deceased had called him (the neighbour) a few hours before he was murdered, complaining that the wife was threatening to kill him with a knife.
He said the neighbour, however, warned him to be careful.
“The deceased also called his mother and his younger sister complaining of threat to his life that night,” Oti added.
He said the CP advised couples to resolve their matrimonial disputes amicably rather than resort to violence.

My husband gets angry whenever I ask for money

A 43-year-old woman has sued her 78-year-old husband for divorce, accusing him of negligence and lack of care.
Wuraola Adekunle had sued her husband, Rufai, at the Idi-Ogungun Customary Court, Agodi, Ibadan, on Tuesday, asking for the dissolution of their 15-year marriage.
Wuraola, a resident of Apete, Ibadan, had prayed the court to uphold her request due to her husband’s negligence to take care of her and the three children of the union.
The petitioner told the court that her 78-year-old husband was in the habit of threatening her whenever she demanded money.
Wuraola also said she shouldered the responsibility of school fees, feeding and other needs of the children alone.
In his judgment, the President of the court, Mukaila Balogun, said the evidence of both parties before the court had proved that the union lacked love and care.
Balogun said the court could no longer play a reconciliatory role for settlement of the rift since both parties had agreed to part ways.
He dissolved the marriage and ordered that the three kids of the marriage be in the custody of the respondent “as agreed by the couple. ”
The respondent did not object to the dissolution, but denied the allegation of negligence.
He urged the court to allow the children to be in his custody so that he could effectively take care of them.

I will die, if I give my wife money, man tells court

A 55-year-old fashion designer, Stephen Enebeli, told a lagos Customary Court in Igando area on Thursday that he would die if he gave money to his wife.

Enebeli said this when he responded to a divorce petition by his wife, Eunice, alleging lack of care for his children.
“I stopped giving her money for feeding and school fees of our children when she started living with another man.
“In my tradition, if a woman marries another husband legally or illegally and the former husband still gives her money for the welfare of the children, he will die and I am not ready to die now,” he said.
The respondent said that his wife sent him packing from their matrimonial home and he presently squats with friends.
“Eunice forced me out of her house because I always fight her for leaving the children at home and go to sleep with men,” he said.
According to him, Eunice lacks respect for him just because she has more money.
He begged the court to grant him the custody of the children so that he could train them.
“I don’t want another man to father or train my children while I am alive,” he said.
Eunice had urged the court to terminate their 16-year-old marriage for alleged lack of care.
“My husband is an irresponsible husband and father.
“While he was still living with me, he refused to pay house rent, feeding or school fees of the children, I shouldered all the responsibility.
“I bought him a motorcycle in addition to his fashion designing work so that he can be supportive, but he is just lazy and abandoned the motorcycle,” Eunice said.
The 36-year-old food vendor said that her husband was threatening to poison her.
“Stephen always tell me that he will kill me with poison if I make any attempt to divorce him and that he will marry another wife,” the petitioner alleged.
The mother of three, pleaded with the court to end the marriage that she was no longer in love with him.
Delivering judgment, the court President, Mr Akin Akinniyi, said that the petitioner was adamant despite all mediation from the court and family.
“Since the petitioner insisted on divorce after several interventions, the court has no choice than to dissolve the union in spite of the fact that the husband still claims he loves his wife.
“The court pronounces the marriage between Mrs Eunice Enebeli and Mr Stephen Enebeli dissolved today, both parties henceforth ceased to be husband and wife.
“Both parties are free to go their separate ways without any hindrances and molestation, the court wishes you well in your new journey.
“The custody of the children should remain with their mother,”Akinniyi ruled.

Teenager kills mum over a missing phone memory card

A 17-year-old Junior High School pupil, Emmanuel Gyan, is in police custody for allegedly killing his own mother over his missing mobile phone memory card.
The incident happened in Sefwi-Wiawso District in Western region of Ghana.

Gyan is said to have hit his 52-year-old mother, Faustina Agyeiwaa, several times in the head with a pestle until she fell down, and thereafter he followed up with naked flames in attempts to burn her.
Sources said Gyan was arrested and brought to the station by his own father, Isaac Somuah, aged 58, assisted by one Stephen Amponsah.
Somuah and Amponsah told the police that Gyan had accused his mother of taking his memory card, which the mother denied.
They said Emmanuel became furious and started attacking the mother with a pestle by hitting her on the head several times until she died on the spot.
Her body has since been deposited at the Bibiani government hospital mortuary, awaiting an autopsy.

Lagos State sets up special courts for sexual offences trial

Nigeria's economic nerve center, Lagos has inaugurated four special courts solely for the prosecution of sexual offences and corruption cases, a novel move in Africa's biggest economy.
Two courts will adjudicate on special offences (economic and financial crimes), while the two others will try sexual offences.
The Sexual Offences Court is the first of its kind in Nigeria.
Nigeria's anti-graft czar, Ibrahim Magu,was among those who witnessed the inauguration.
Lagos governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, noted that the establishment of the courts would facilitate expeditious hearing and trial of sexual and financial related crimes.
Ambode said Lagos was collaborating with the British Council under the Rule of Law Anti-Corruption Programme to provide technical support for the anti-corruption fight.
“The state collaborates with such agencies charged with the investigation and prosecution of corruption offences by providing an enabling environment in terms of responding to inquiries and providing information to anti-graft agencies.
“I am particularly glad about the designation of two courts to handle sexual related offences as it complements our fight against sexual abuse.
“These sexual offences courts will have trained and experienced prosecutors to interact with survivors, provide support and ensure timely prosecution of the cases,” he said.
Ambode, who reeled out statistics of the sexual crimes handled by the Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team (DSVRT) and Mirabel Centre in Lagos, announced that the state government had awarded a contract for the expansion of the DNA and Forensic Centre.
“Between 2015 and now, the DSVRT and Mirabel Centre have handled over 400 cases of sexual offences while 376 cases are being prosecuted in the various courts.
“With a dedicated court now in place to handle these cases, l am sure that these cases will get the attention they deserve.
“We have awarded the contract for the expansion of the operations of the DNA and Forensic Centre and Chemistry Section.
“This will automatically place Lagos as one of the leading centres for forensics in Africa,” Ambode said.

How an Herbalist sells baby for 650,000 naira to desperate barren client

An 38-year old herbalist, Emmanuel Chigozie, has been arrested in Abuja over allegation that he was selling new born babies to his barren clients at the rate of 650,000 naira.
Chigozie, according to report was arrested by operatives of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and the Department of State Services (DSS) on Saturday after weeks of surveillance.
The herbalist mode of operations is to administer concoctions to his female clients who were desperately seeking to have their own children and thereafter offered to sell other people’s babies to them.
Chigozie was said to be the owner of Akuchi Herbal Concept at New Nyanya, Abuja.
The lid over Chigozie’s operations was lifted when one of his client was arrested by the police at a checkpoint between Abuja and Minna, Niger State, some weeks ago.
The woman, whose name could not be ascertained, was reportedly found with a baby, discovered not to belong to her and she later confessed to the Police who detained her.
The woman who confessed to be Chigozie’s patient and claimed that the herbalist administered some herbs to her after years of infertility and later directed her to meet a syndicate in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where the baby was handed over to her.
The NAPTIP Head, Press and Public Relations, Josiah Emerole, confirmed the incident.
He said, “He warned the woman not to go to any hospital and directed her to Port Harcourt where a baby was handed over to her. She confessed to paying the suspect the sum of N650,000 for his services.
“He has been arrested and he is being investigated for sale of human beings and child trafficking. The NAPTIP Director-General, Julie Okah-Donli, has warned women to stop patronising such herbalists as the sale of babies is a crime punishable by law.
“We advise couples who wish to adopt a child to go through the legal means as anything short of this is legally and morally wrong. Some of these babies were abducted from their biological parents and sold off against their wish.”

Woman dragged out of car, raped in front of husband, brother-in-law

A 22-year-old woman was dragged out of a car and raped in front of her husband and brother-in-law who were held at gunpoint in the northern Indian state of Haryana, the police said on Tuesday.
The incident, according to police, took place Sunday night in Sector 56 of Gurugram on the outskirts of New Delhi.Police said they had arrested four people in this connection.A police official said: “on Sunday night a woman, her husband and brother-in-law were returning from a function in a car.
“When they stopped near the business park tower, the woman’s husband got out of the car to use the toilet.
“Suddenly two cars stopped near them and four men came out and dragged the woman out of the car.
“One of the men took the woman and raped her while others held her husband and her brother-in-law at gunpoint.”
Reports said before running away, the men warned the woman and her husband against reporting the incident to the police.
This is the latest incident of rape horror that emerged in the state.
Recently two incidents of young girls being raped and killed were reported in Haryana.
Sexual attacks on women and girls in India put a question mark on their safety and efficiency of the police force in the country.
In December 2012, a fatal gang-rape of a medical student in New Delhi brought the spotlight on crimes against women in India.
The incident saw huge protests and resulted in new anti-rape laws in the country. However, brutal sexual attacks against women continue to be reported across India.

Kenyan Doctor moves to legalise female genital mutilation, goes to court

A Kenyan doctor is seeking to legalise female genital mutilation (FGM), arguing that a ban on the internationally condemned practice is unconstitutional and that adult women should be allowed to do what they want with their bodies.

Tatu Kamau filed a petition in the Machakos High Court in eastern Kenya on Wednesday claiming that women are being harassed and arrested for undergoing FGM."If women can decide to drink, to smoke, women can join the army, women can do all sorts of things that might bring them harm or injury, and yet they are allowed to make that decision," Kamau told Kenya Television News (KTN).
“I think that even for the decision of female circumcision, a woman can make that decision. And once she has made that decision, she should be able to access the best medical care to have it done.”
An estimated 200 million girls and women worldwide have undergone FGM, which usually involves the partial or total removal of the female genitalia and can cause a host of serious health problems, say health experts.
The ancient ritual - practised in at least 27 African countries and parts of Asia and the Middle East - is usually carried out by traditional cutters, often using unsterilised blades or knives.
In some cases, girls can bleed to death or die from infections. FGM can also cause fatal childbirth complications later in life, add health experts.
Kenya outlawed the practice in 2011, but it continues as communities believe it is necessary for social acceptance and increasing their daughters' marriage prospects. One in five women and girls between 15 and 49 years in Kenya have undergone FGM, says the United Nations.
Kamau’s petition has sparked criticism from women’s rights campaigners who said overturning the ban would be a regressive step, setting back decades of gains made to improve the sexual and reproductive health of Kenya’s women and girls.
“I actually think it’s one of the worst ideas I’ve ever heard, and it’s even more shocking that it is coming from a medical doctor,” said Njoki Njehu from the charity Daughters of Mumbi Global Resource Center.
“Everything we know about FGM is that it has no benefit and causes a great deal of harm. We also know the majority of those who undergo FGM are young girls, not adults. We - all women’s rights groups - are ready to fight this if it comes to that.”
The petition is expected to heard by the court on Feb. 26.

Women reject me because of my manhood size –Actor

Ghanaian actor, Don Little, who is often referred to as ‘Ghanaian Aki’ by Nigerians, has said that women reject him because of the size of his manhood.

The actor revealed this in an interview with Adom TV, a Ghanaian Television station.
He said, “Women reject me because of my manhood size. They claim it is too short and does not give them the satisfaction they want.”
The actor, however, claimed he has slept with about five ladies who are taller than him but the complaints had always been the same.
This notwithstanding, Don Little is optimistic that he will someday get a woman of his dream who will love him and accept him for who he is.

‘My childhood friend told me he’s having affair with my wife’

An Ekiti based man, Lamidi Adebayo has dragged his wife before a Customary Court seeking divorce on the ground that the wife was sleeping with his childhood friend, an herbalist.
Adebayo, 48, a commercial driver accused his wife, Bose of adultery, drunkenness and dishonesty.
Adebayo, who has been married with Bose for 28 years said he was shocked when his childhood friend named Lateef, an herbalist confessed to him of having secret affairs with his wife.

“I was shocked on November 7, 2017 when my childhood friend, named Lateef, a herbalist, invited me to his house and told me that I should forgive him that ‎he has been having secret affairs with my wife.
“He told me that my wife told him that her husband had died a long time ago, whereas am still very much alive,” he said.
He said though their marriage was not formally contracted, but they have four children together.
He further told the court that his neighbours had informed him several times that his wife and one of her friends were “touring the houses of men” but he never believed the information.
The petitioner also alleged that the respondent ‎was a drunkard who takes gin, assorted wines and palm wine to stupor every morning.
Lamidi said he had tried every possible means ‎to stop his wife’s adulterous act and drunkenness but to no avail.
The petitioner, therefore, urged the court to dissolve the marriage because of her behaviour and dishonesty.
The plea of the woman was not immediately taken, but the ‎President of the Court, Olayinka Akomolede, after hearing the petitioner’s testimony adjourned the case to Feb.15, for further hearing.

Police says man disguises as 'mad man' arrested with toy gun, PoS, phone, two ID

A twenty five years old, suspected robber, Olayinka Ogundamiro, who allegedly disguised as a mentally derailed person, has been arrested by the Nigerian Police.
Ogundamiro was arrested on Monday in Ikeja area of Lagos State, with two bags containing a Tecno phone, a PoS terminal, tokens, a toy gun, a bunch of keys, a live tortoise and a laptop charger, among others.According to a report by PUNCH Metro, residents of the area became suspicious of Ogundamiro’s movements around the neighborhood and alerted the police and he was consequently arrested.

He reportedly threw away a SIM card found on him as some policemen approached the area to arrest him.
Ogundamiro was paraded on Tuesday at the state police command headquarters in Ikeja by the Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi.
A policeman from the station, who was at the parade, said several calls had come into the suspect’s Techno phone, saying he was merely pretending to be mad.
In an interview with newsmen, the suspect gave his personal details and insisted that he was not insane.
The suspect, who also identified himself as a Rastafarian, said the claim that he disguised as a mad man “was a big exaggeration.”
He, however, spoke incoherently afterwards.
The CP, Imohimi, said operatives swooped on Ogundamiro after closely observing him, adding that his display of lunacy was concocted.
He said, “A suspected robber who disguised around town as a mad man was caught on Monday around 3pm. When he was arrested and searched, the following items were recovered from him: a toy pistol, a PoS terminal, three tokens belonging to First Bank and Zenith Bank, two ID cards, a bunch of keys, a live tortoise, a Tecno phone, bangles, chains, a laptop charger and wristwatches.
“He could not give a satisfactory account of himself and why he had all the items in his possession. Investigation is ongoing and he will be charged to court.”

Hemp gives me strength – Labourer tells Court

An ex-convict, Peter Bitrus, on Tuesday told a Kubwa Grade 1 Area Court that he could not do without hemp smoking, saying it is my source of strength to work.

Bitrus, who is residing in Kubwa area of Abuja, had sometime been convicted by another court for the same offence.
He, however, pleaded guilty to a charge of public nuisance, urging the court to have mercy on him.
Bitrus told the court that he would have dumped the habit since, “but hemp smoking strengthened me to work as a labourer’’. ‎
‎According to him, I am ready to go back to my hometown in Kagarko, Kaduna State and I will not smoke hemp again, if acquitted.
The Judge, Mohammed Marafa, said that Bitrus looked remorseful and worrisome, but must be punished to deter others.
Marafa added that Bitrus had been convicted for the same offence sometimes ago.
The judge, therefore, sentenced Bitrus to two months in prison with an option of N10, 000 fine.
He also ordered that Bitrus, being an ex-convict, should be given five strokes of cane.
The prosecutor, Babajide Olanipekun, had told the court that Bitrus was found at a black spot on Dec. 26 in Quarry Estate, Kubwa area of Abuja, smoking hemp.
He said that as a result, Bitrus had caused nuisance to members of the public and that the offence contravened Section 198 of the Penal Code.
